VenueDB keeps navigation in the same few places on every page, so once you know them you can move around quickly.
The sidebar
The dark sidebar on the left is navigation only: Dashboard, Leads, Clients, Accounts, Events, BEOs, Vendors, Tasks, Documents, Quotes, Invoices, Payments, Contracts, Reports and Venue Settings. Items you don't have access to don't appear.
Use the menu button at the left of the top bar to collapse the sidebar to icons (handy on a small laptop) and bring it back. VenueDB remembers your choice.
The top bar
From left to right:
| Piece | What it does |
|---|---|
| Menu button | Collapses or expands the sidebar. On a phone it opens the menu. |
| Company and venue | Shows who you're working in. If you have more than one venue, click it to switch venues or choose All venues. |
| Search | The magnifying glass opens a search box for events, clients and leads. Press Esc to close it. |
| Notifications | The bell. A number shows what's unread — report exports that finished, connections that need attention, and so on. |
| Support | The chat bubble opens a message to the VenueDB team. |
| Your account | Your photo or initials. Opens Account Settings, Help & Support and Sign out. |
Recent items
Under the top bar, next to the page title, is a trail of the records you opened most recently — newest first, with the one you're on highlighted. Click any of them to jump straight back.
- It tracks events, leads, clients and accounts (not every page you visit).
- It shows as many as fit in the space, so a wider window shows more.
- It's yours: saved to your account, so it follows you from your laptop to your phone.
The page title
The small Section / Detail label beside the recent items tells you where you are — for example Events / Calendar, Leads / New or Settings / Venues & Spaces. Click the section name to go back to its list. On a record page, the page itself shows the record's name.
On a phone
VenueDB works on a phone, with layouts built for a narrow screen:
- The menu button opens the sidebar as a drawer.
- Recent items collapse into a single clock button that opens the list.
- Search is an icon that opens a search box under the top bar.
- On Events, the filters open as a sheet from the bottom, the Month view becomes a compact grid with a list of the chosen day, Week shows three days at a time (swipe or use the arrows), and List becomes cards. Swipe left or right to move between months and days.
- Lists such as Clients and Invoices show their usual columns and scroll sideways if they need to.
