Wherever VenueDB offers a dropdown of your terms, the choices come from Settings → Custom Lists. Changing a list changes the dropdown everywhere it's used.
| List | Used for |
|---|---|
| Lead stages | The columns of your sales pipeline. Name, color, order and kind (Open / Won / Lost / Archived). |
| Event types | Wedding, Corporate, Birthday… on leads and events. Also used in reports, calendar sync filters and the API. |
| Referral sources | Where a lead or client came from. |
| Function types | What a function is (Reception, Ceremony, Meeting…). Picked on each function and printed on contracts. |
| Vendor categories | Catering, Bar, DJ… on vendors and the Vendors filters. |
| Contact roles | Roles for event contacts. Primary, Secondary, Billing and Onsite are built in. |
| Document categories | How uploaded documents are organized. |
How lists behave
- Add, rename and reorder. Drag to reorder; the order is the dropdown's order.
- Removing is archiving. A removed option disappears from dropdowns but stays on records that already use it, so history is never broken.
- Renaming is safe. Each option has an internal value (like
cocktail_hour) that never changes, so existing records follow the new name. - Built-in options. The four default contact roles are permanent.
Tips
- Settle your event types early; they're the backbone of reports.
- Keep lists short. A dropdown of 40 options is slower than one of 10.
